I Am Calling You ...

I AM CALLING YOU to a life of constant communion with Me.  Basic training includes learning to live above your circumstances, even while interacting on that cluttered plane of life.  You yearn for a simplified lifestyle, so that your communication with Me can be uninterrupted.  But I challenge you to relinquish the fantasy of an uncluttered world.  Accept each day just as it comes, and find Me in the midst of it all.

Talk with Me about every aspect of your day, including your feelings.  Remember that your ultimate goal is not to control or fix everything around you; it is to keep communing with Me.  A successful day is one in which you have stayed in touch with Me, even if many things remain undone at the end of the day.  Do not let your to-do list (written or mental) become an idol directing your life.  Instead, ask My Spirit to guide you moment by moment.  He will keep you close to Me.

Scripture Insight:  1 Thessalonians 5:17 and Proverbs 3:6

1 comment:

  1. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 - "... pray continually" (New International Version)

We cannot spend all our time on our knees, but it is possible to have a prayerful attitude at all times. The attitude is built upon acknowledging our dependence on God; realizing his presence within us, and determining to obey him fully. Then we will find it natural to pray frequent, spontaneous, short prayers. A prayerful attitude is not a substitute for regular times of prayer but should be an outgrowth of those times.

Proverbs 3:6 - "...in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (New International Version)

To receive God's guidance, we must acknowledge God in all our ways. This means turning every area of life over to him. Look at your values and priorities. What is important to you? In what areas have you acknowledged him? What is his advice? In many areas of your life you may already acknowledge God, but it is in the areas where you attempt to restrict or ignore his influence that will cause you grief. Make him a vital part of everything you do; then he will guide you because you will be working to accomplish his purposes.
