WHEN I JOINED THE RANKS of humanity, born into the humblest conditions, My Glory was hidden from all but a few people. Occasionally, streaks of Glory shone out of Me, especially when I began to do miracles. Toward the end of My life, I was taunted and tempted to display more of My awesome Power than My Father's plan permitted. I could have called down legions of angels to rescue Me at any point. Imagine the self-control required of a martyr who could free Himself at will! All of this was necessary to provide the relationship with Me that you now enjoy. Let your life become a praise song to me by proclaiming My glorious Presence in the world.

John 2:11 - This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed at Cana in Galilee. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.
ReplyDeleteThe first miraculous sign was when Jesus & his disciples attended a wedding, where his mother was present as well. When the wine was gone, Jesus' mother told him they had no more wine for the festive occasion. At first it seems like he may not assist, but he asked the servants to grab six stone water jars and fill them up with water. Then he told them to draw some water out and take it to the master of the banquet. They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine.
Jesus was on a mission to save the world. He took time to attend a wedding and take part in its festivities. We may be tempted to think we should not take time from our "important" work for social occasions, but Jesus valued these times because it involved people. Our mission can often be completed in joyous times of celebration with others. Bring balance to your life by bringing Jesus into times of pleasure as well as times of work.
